Through a partnership with The Edge Urban Fellowship in Grand Rapids, groups of people ranging from Grade 7 students – adults are invited to experience a dynamic cultural encounter in the Roosevelt Park community of Grand Rapids.
Through this experience, we engage with interactive workshops on racial reconciliation, immigration, and other topics as well as cross-cultural group discussions.
Expand your Christian worldview as we learn together what it means to love your neighbor as yourself.
Serving Roosevelt Park Community
Located on the southwest side of Grand Rapids, many people know the Roosevelt community for its negative stereotypes—high poverty and gang activity levels and low graduation rates. But the reality is that despite its challenges we know that God is doing dynamic work there.
The Urban Arts program, job readiness opportunities, business startup training, and mentoring are some of the available resources that The Edge has to offer.
These programs and community partnerships make the Roosevelt Community a prime training ground for those from the suburban and rural environments to experience life and ministry in the urban contexts.
The Urban Experience exists to create a reconciling relationship among urban and suburban people by providing participants with experiential learning opportunities that cross racial, social, and historical boundaries.
HOW IT WORKS
This program is designed for anyone as young as 14 years old to adults. Each session is custom designed for your group. The Urban experience is designed to make participants aware of God’s work in the urban context and is broken down into 4 basic components.
